The Mind of Christ, Part 7

This is the seventh in a multi-part message. We are called to have the same attitude that was in Christ Jesus. We need to be able to operate with a steadfast mind. How can we have the mind of Christ? Having the mind of Christ means we share the plan, purpose, and perspective of Christ. It means we understand that God’s plan is to bring glory to himself. And it is something that all believers essentially possess; it’s programmed into us, yet we need to have it developed by the Holy Spirit. As we grow and mature in the things of God, it is done in partnership with the Spirit of the Living God, as He leads and directs us.

Key Scripture reference Philippians 2:5–11 NASV states: “Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Foundation Scripture for LOJWC Ministry:

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Mark 11:23

What We Believe:

We believe in God, the Father, Almighty, and in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. On the third day he rose again according to Scripture. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father, from whence he shall come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the God-head, who revealed himself on the day of Pentecost. We believe in the gifts of the Spirit and their continuous operation in the body of Christ. And we believe in one holy, universal, and apostolic church. Amen.

Faith Confession:

We conduct spiritual warfare. It begins with us as we speak God’s word and speak to our bodies, minds, and emotions. Therefore we make a faith confession which says: “Satan, in the name of Jesus, I declare this body a sickness-disease-free zone. Every germ, virus, bacterium, etc., that touches this body dies instantly in the name of Jesus, who bore my sicknesses, carried my diseases, and by whose stripes I have been healed. Therefore I command life into every cell in this body, I receive healing for my emotions from every past embedded hurtful, fearful memory. I speak active deliverance from the law of sin and death, according to the finished works of Jesus the Christ, the anointed and his anointing.“

The Mind of Christ, Part 6

This is the sixth in a multi-part message. We are called to have the same attitude that was in Christ Jesus. Our minds are the decision makers, the determining factors for direction. Thoughts flow in as water cascading over falls of cliffs. We were created with the ability to choose. God is desirous of us choosing to walk in his ways. He does not force us; we have choice. Those choices are enhanced by the mindset we choose or allow to operate in us. God intends for us to walk in authority. He does not want us to be puffed up because of that authority. Jesus didn’t go around bragging, but he knew who he was. Likewise, we need to know who we are.

Key Scripture reference Philippians 2:5–11 NKJV states: “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God. but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.  Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The Mind of Christ, Part 5

This is the fifth in a multi-part message. In this series we have examined the attitude. It is the fuel that directs our lives, that is fed by the thoughts we entertain. Thoughts form a part of our mindset. It includes associations with our ancestry. Listen to the message to learn how that happens. The issues that we struggle with can become much easier to gain victory over when we operate in the mind of Christ. This message examines the sinful mind, which is in opposition to the spiritual mind. We have to take the word of the living God to transform our mind and souls.

Also see Colossians 2:18, which states, “Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you from the prize. Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions by their unspiritual mind.

The Mind of Christ, Part 4

The mind of Christ is a filtering agent enabling us to make right choices. We have a choice in what we think. We are to monitor our thoughts. Change begins to take place in our thoughts as we begin to renew our minds. As we learn to walk in the mind of Christ, we come to the point of obedience. Obedience is not just about actions, it includes attitude. Jesus humbled himself. The opposite is pride. If we have the mind of Christ, the Holy Spirit can alert us more quickly, so we can repent. We need to make that choice to operate in the mind of Christ.

This is the fourth in a multi-part message. The Mind of Christ, Part 3

What does the Bible mean when it refers to our minds? Why is it important for us to understand our need for the mind of Christ? Our mind is an integral part of us. If the prince of darkness can keep us confused and ignorant as to what our minds are and how we are to renew our minds then we will continue to depend on our own thinking and thus be conformed to this world. We can only be transformed as we are transitioned out of our mind sets. When we don’t renew our minds with the Word of the living God our negative thoughts are on a fast track. That is why it is necessary to let this mind that was in Christ Jesus be also in us!

This is the third in a multi-part message. The Mind of Christ, Part 2

What is the mind of Christ? Why is it important for us to understand our need for the mind of Christ? And what can the mind of Christ through us enable us to accomplish? The mind of Christ is the ultimate in humility. Jesus was free from the pride of appearance, worldly success, reputation, riches, rank, and the pride of kingship. The mind of Christ will enable us to do the same. If we lift ourselves up, creating barriers, separation, class, or distinction, we repel those we minister to. Study these verses on humility: Proverbs 16:19, 22:4, 29:23, Isaiah 57:15, Matthew 18:4. Humility is not an option clause! We are called to have the attitude, the mindset of Christ.

This is the second in a multi-part message. The Mind of Christ, Part 1

What is the mind of Christ? Why is it important for us to understand our need for the mind of Christ? And what can the mind of Christ through us enable us to accomplish? The mind of Christ is the ultimate in humility. In order for us to do the works that Jesus did, in order to not become prideful, we have got to have our minds renewed. It’s not a one-time thing. How are our minds renewed? By the word. We have to constantly be filled with the word of the living God, and keep our eyes on Jesus Christ, the author of faith. We need to mold our mindset, because the thoughts we entertain on a daily basis often create a mindset that is not in agreement with the mind of Christ. Having the mind of Christ is being one in his perspective.
