The Mind of Christ, Part 2

What is the mind of Christ? Why is it important for us to understand our need for the mind of Christ? And what can the mind of Christ through us enable us to accomplish? The mind of Christ is the ultimate in humility. Jesus was free from the pride of appearance, worldly success, reputation, riches, rank, and the pride of kingship. The mind of Christ will enable us to do the same. If we lift ourselves up, creating barriers, separation, class, or distinction, we repel those we minister to. Study these verses on humility: Proverbs 16:19, 22:4, 29:23, Isaiah 57:15, Matthew 18:4. Humility is not an option clause! We are called to have the attitude, the mindset of Christ.

This is the second in a multi-part message. Key Scripture reference Philippians 2:5–11 NKJV states: “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God. but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.  Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Foundation Scripture for LOJWC Ministry:

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Mark 11:23

What We Believe:

We believe in God, the Father, Almighty, and in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. On the third day he rose again according to Scripture. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father, from whence he shall come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the God-head, who revealed himself on the day of Pentecost. We believe in the gifts of the Spirit and their continuous operation in the body of Christ. And we believe in one holy, universal, and apostolic church. Amen.

Faith Confession:

We conduct spiritual warfare. It begins with us as we speak God’s word and speak to our bodies, minds, and emotions. Therefore we make a faith confession which says: “Satan, in the name of Jesus, I declare this body a sickness-disease-free zone. Every germ, virus, bacterium, etc., that touches this body dies instantly in the name of Jesus, who bore my sicknesses, carried my diseases, and by whose stripes I have been healed. Therefore I command life into every cell in this body, I receive healing for my emotions from every past embedded hurtful, fearful memory. I speak active deliverance from the law of sin and death, according to the finished works of Jesus the Christ, the anointed and his anointing.“

The Mind of Christ, Part 1

What is the mind of Christ? Why is it important for us to understand our need for the mind of Christ? And what can the mind of Christ through us enable us to accomplish? The mind of Christ is the ultimate in humility. In order for us to do the works that Jesus did, in order to not become prideful, we have got to have our minds renewed. It’s not a one-time thing. How are our minds renewed? By the word. We have to constantly be filled with the word of the living God, and keep our eyes on Jesus Christ, the author of faith. We need to mold our mindset, because the thoughts we entertain on a daily basis often create a mindset that is not in agreement with the mind of Christ. Having the mind of Christ is being one in his perspective.

Operating in God’s Compassion

What is God’s compassion? What are his mercies? God is love. Love shows compassion from which flows power, healing, provision, creation, and more.

Throughout the New Testament Gospels we see that Jesus had compassion on the people. He saw their plight. He was stirred from within and moved to action. If believers don’t have compassion for others, it shows a hardened heart. Operating in God’s compassion will change our focus and the manner in which we respond to people in need. Our natural selves get burned out, so we need to operate in God’s compassion. We will be on our knees in prayer.

Key Scripture reference Lamentations 3:22–23 AMP states: “It is because of the Lord’s lovingkindnesses that we are not consumed, Because His [tender] compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great and beyond measure is Your faithfulness.” Malakai 3:6 NKJV: “For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.” Isaiah 33:2 NKJV: “O Lord, be gracious to us; We have waited for You. Be their arm every morning, Our salvation also in the time of trouble.

Impossible Situations Amended

Transforming impossible situations into possibilities does not come from our own strength or ability or intellect—it comes by the word of the living God! Let us become confident in God and his word, and thereby become transformers. What we speak in the natural realm will bring about things in the spiritual. God’s word makes these things clear, and this message delivered by Dr. Dowdy on July 15, 2018, shows the way to understand and walk in victory over apparently impossible situations. Be blessed!

Luke 1:37 and Matthew 11:20 AMP (see also Mark 11:23, Luke 17:6, and 1 John 5:14):
For with God nothing [is or ever] shall be impossible.”
He answered, “Because of your little faith [your lack of trust and confidence in the power of God]; for I assure you and most solemnly say to you, [c]if you have [living] faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and [if it is God’s will] it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”

Covenant Relationship

A covenant is a pact that unites two parties. God has made a covenant with us, his people. We can count on God with unflinching faith. When we are in an impossible situation and all odds appear against us (enemies approaching, a mountain before us, a sea, something blocking us from moving forward), remember we are in covenant relationship with Jesus Christ the Righteous, washed and redeemed by His blood. We are in covenant relationship with God Almighty, a covenant that is cut in the blood of Jesus Christ;  since we are in Jesus we are Abraham’s seed and heirs to the promises. Through this covenant, we receive the covenant blessings that God gave to Abraham. That’s why we are called the children of Abraham, because like him, we believed God by faith.

Genesis 6:18, 8:21–22, 9:9–11, 15:18–21, 6:8, Hebrews 8:6 NKJV:
6:18 But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark—you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you.

8:21 And the Lord smelled a soothing aroma. Then the Lord said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination[a] of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.

8:22 “While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
Cold and heat,
Winter and summer,
And day and night
Shall not cease.”

9:9 “And as for Me, behold, I establish My covenant with you and with your [a]descendants after you, 10 and with every living creature that is with you: the birds, the cattle, and every beast of the earth with you, of all that go out of the ark, every beast of the earth. 11 Thus I establish My covenant with you: Never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood; never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.”

15:18 On the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying: “To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates— 19 the Kenites, the Kenezzites, the Kadmonites, 20 the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, 21 the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”

Heb. 8:6 But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.

When God Calls You Mighty, Part 2

When God calls you a might man or woman of valor, there are going to be some challenges. Today we look at Gideon’s reactions and how they emulate our reactions when God calls us. When God is with us, we need not fear. God may even be using your situation to that He is bigger and greater. Listen this message delivered by Dr. Dowdy on July 1, 2018. Be blessed!

Judges 6:11-13 NIV:
The angel of the LORD came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to keep it from the Midianites. When the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, he said, “The LORD is with you, mighty warrior.”
“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the LORD has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.”

When God Calls You Mighty, Part 1

When God calls you a might man or woman of valor, there are going to be some challenges. For most times, when God calls us for a specific task, it is an impossible situation. Gideon was called to do something impossible in the natural world. You might be in a similar situation. This relates to us today. What changes are going on in our lives? What is God working out? What is the assignment? Just like Gideon, we might ask, “But, what can we do?”

Listen this message delivered by Dr. Dowdy on June 24, 2018. Be blessed!
