Operating in the Mind of Christ

What is important to God? Operating according to God’s will and His word, that His Spirit will be able to operate through us. How do we operate in the mind of Christ? We must break up the old mindset, meditating on the Word of the Living God. Our minds must be cleansed, replacing the old mindset.

Key Scripture reference 1 Corinthians 2:16 NKJV states: 10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. 13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the [d]Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. 16 For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

Foundation Scripture for LOJWC Ministry:

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Mark 11:23

What We Believe:

We believe in God, the Father, Almighty, and in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. On the third day he rose again according to Scripture. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father, from whence he shall come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the God-head, who revealed himself on the day of Pentecost. We believe in the gifts of the Spirit and their continuous operation in the body of Christ. And we believe in one holy, universal, and apostolic church. Amen.

Faith Confession:

We conduct spiritual warfare. It begins with us as we speak God’s word and speak to our bodies, minds, and emotions. Therefore we make a faith confession which says: “Satan, in the name of Jesus, I declare this body a sickness-disease-free zone. Every germ, virus, bacterium, etc., that touches this body dies instantly in the name of Jesus, who bore my sicknesses, carried my diseases, and by whose stripes I have been healed. Therefore I command life into every cell in this body, I receive healing for my emotions from every past embedded hurtful, fearful memory. I speak active deliverance from the law of sin and death, according to the finished works of Jesus the Christ, the anointed and his anointing.“

The Mind of Christ, Part 7

This is the seventh in a multi-part message. We are called to have the same attitude that was in Christ Jesus. We need to be able to operate with a steadfast mind. How can we have the mind of Christ? Having the mind of Christ means we share the plan, purpose, and perspective of Christ. It means we understand that God’s plan is to bring glory to himself. And it is something that all believers essentially possess; it’s programmed into us, yet we need to have it developed by the Holy Spirit. As we grow and mature in the things of God, it is done in partnership with the Spirit of the Living God, as He leads and directs us.

Key Scripture reference Philippians 2:5–11 NASV states: “Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Mind Blindness

The mind is the seat of reflective consciousness, comprising the faculties of perception and understanding, which are feeling, judging and determining. Scriptures that present the mind as the faculty of knowing include: Luke 24:45, Romans 1:28, 14:5, 1 Corinthians 14:15, 19, Ephesians 4:17, Philippians 4:7, Colossians 2:18, 1 Timothy 6:7, 2 Timothy 3:8, Titus 1:15, Revelation 13:18, 17:9. These and other substantiating scriptures testify to God’s word concerning our minds. There is a dulling down, a stunted mindset, even among believers. Study Proverbs 23:7, James 1:5, 2 Timothy 1:7, and find that God does not give us a double mind, nor is God the author of confusion. He gives us a steadfast mind, able to grasp the word of the living God, and to hold on to it through all calamities and spiritual attack.

We invite you to partake of this message delivered by Dr. Dowdy on October 29, 2017, highlighting God’s word from 2 Corinthians 3:14, 4:4.

But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. —2 Cor. 3:14 NKJV

But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. —2 Cor. 4:3–4 NKJV
