Fight the Good Fight of Faith – C

Today’s message begins with some much-needed clarification about interpretations of 1 Timothy 6:10 and our understanding about the role of money in life. Then the focus turns to faith. We believe God by faith in his word. We then speak that faith which has created images in our spirits of the desired petition.

How do we fight the good fight of faith? What weapons do we have? They are not physical weapons by nature. It’s not intellect or anything we can acquire in the natural. For we fight a spiritual battle. We need to develop a fighting faith, able to withstand the assault of the prince of darkness.

See previous messages with the same title, yet focusing on a different angle, from July 2, 2017 and April 12, 2015.

This message was delivered by Dr. Dowdy on February 11, 2018. Be blessed!

1 Timothy 6:10–12 NKJV:
10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

Does God’s Word Work Today?

It is possible to have confidence in God as Deity, and not have equal confidence in His Word. No matter what arguments the world gives, keep in mind that God is the Lord Almighty—He watches over His word to perform it.

So, does God’s word work today as it did in the past? Why don’t we always see the powers demonstrated in the Bible? God’s plan hasn’t changed. God’s word hasn’t changed. God’s power hasn’t waned. It’s all available today. We need to believe God’s report,  act in faith, and expect God to fulfill His word. Where He finds faith, He still confirms His word.

Listen to this message, delivered by Dr. Dowdy on February 4, 2018, for more encouragement and instruction for living by faith and in the fullness of God. Be blessed!

Hebrews 4:1–3 NKJV:
Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said:
“So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest,’”
although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Releasing the Burden–Removing, Yoke–Destroying Power of God, Part 1

We will look at how we have been given the authority to release the burden–removing, yoke–destroying power of God! Spiritual burdens come to destroy our faith, weaken our belief in Jesus, and steal our joy. What excuses are we giving for not living with the power God gave us? Unbelief will stop the power of God to work on our behalf. How can we walk the faith walk God calls us to?

Listen to this message delivered by Dr. Dowdy on August 13, 2017, with key verse Acts 10:38 NKJV:

God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

Fight the Good Fight of Faith

How do we fight the good fight of faith? (And how do we avoid fights that are not good?) Listen to this message delivered by Dr. Dowdy on July 2, 2017 with key verses from 1 Timothy 6. Be sure to listen to the service also, where the Holy Spirit intervenes with healing. Praise God!

1 Timothy 6:11–12 NKJV:

Breaking Boundaries, Part 2: Setting the Faith Limits

Jesus said during his earthly ministry, “According to your faith so shall it be done.” Therefore, it is necessary for us to examine our faith levels. Whenever Jesus’ disciples acquiesced to circumstances, he attributed it to their “little faith.” What is faith? Believing that the word of God is true. Abraham had strong faith, because he believed God. Weak faith doesn’t accomplish much. Anything that requires more than weak faith will not happen unless others are standing with us. That is the prayer of agreement. And each time we use our faith, it grows.

Beware of the statement often heard in Christian circles that says, “God answers prayer three ways: yes, no, and wait.” That is a fallacy, and not found in God’s word. Learn how to find the upper limits of faith-filled prayer. Surround yourself with faith-filled people to grow and walk in faith. You can start in the fellowship of Lion of Judah Worship Center today! Check out this message delivered by Dr. Dowdy on May 7, 2017, with key Bible verses Matthew 9:27–30.

Matthew 9:27–30 AMP:
27 As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed Him, screaming loudly, “Have mercy and compassion on us, Son of David (Messiah)!” 28 When He went into the house, the blind men came up to Him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe [with a deep, abiding trust] that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” 29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith [your trust and confidence in My power and My ability to heal] it will be done to you.”

Breaking Boundaries, Part 1: Setting the Faith Limits

Learn how to find the upper limits of faith-filled prayer. When we say “if it be your will,” we negate the power of our prayers. We must also take care that our faith doesn’t get dissipated by circumstances. Surround yourself with faith-filled people to grow and walk in faith. You can start in the fellowship of Lion of Judah Worship Center today! Check out this message delivered by Dr. Dowdy on April 30, 2017, with key Bible verses Matthew 9:28–30.

Matthew 9:28–30 NKJV:
28 And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”
They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”
29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.”30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, saying, “See that no one knows it.”

What Excites Jesus?

Have you ever thought about what excites Jesus? God has emotions; he is not stoic or emotionless, nor is he ruled by his emotions. In that case, what excites God? Check it out as you listen to this message delivered by Dr. Dowdy on April 9, 2017, with key Scripture Matthew 8:10.

Matthew 8:5–10 AMP:
As Jesus went into Capernaum, a centurion came up to Him, begging Him [for help], and saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, with intense andterrible, tormenting pain.” Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.” But the centurion replied to Him, “Lord, I am not worthy to have You come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man subject to authority [of a higher rank], with soldiers subject to me; and I say to one, ‘Go!’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes, and to my slave, ‘Do this!’ and he does it.” 10 When Jesus heard this, He was amazed and said to those who were following Him, “I tell you truthfully, I have not found such great faith [as this] with anyone in Israel.”
