The Power of His Resurrection, Part II

Redemption is being bought back by the blood of Jesus. He bought us back. He paid the full price for our redemption. That is a part of His resurrection power, of the finished works of Jesus. The power of His resurrection is not a one-time event. It is a daily flowing emanation that we can access as needed.  The text does not say “power in” (as in a one-time event), but the “power of” His resurrection. In Matthew 28:18 Jesus says, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.” We should fully understand that if we have no faith in it, it does us no good. What is the major deterrent that prevents us from drawing near to God? What keeps us from pressing in? Sin-consciousness. Satan is stripped of his authority. (See Rev. 1:18.) His only ability left is deception. So he tries to make us believe we don’t have what God gave to us. Yet we should have a new mindset. We should never consider ourselves to be less-than what we are. The old-sin nature is gone and the new nature, free from condemnation has taken its place. (See Romans 8:1, 33.) The new creation is free from sin. It is the result of God’s redemption work. For more insight, listen to this message delivered by Dr. Dowdy for November 10, 2019.

Philippians 3:8–10 NKJV & AMP
Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death. NKJV

But more than that, I count everything as loss compared to the priceless privilege and supreme advantage of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord [and of growing more deeply and thoroughly acquainted with Him—a joy unequaled]. For His sake I have lost everything, and I consider it all garbage, so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him [believing and relying on Him], not having any righteousness of my own derived from [my obedience to] the Law and its rituals, but [possessing] that [genuine righteousness] which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith. 10 And this, so that I may know Him [experientially, becoming more thoroughly acquainted with Him, understanding the remarkable wonders of His Person more completely] and [in that same way experience] the power of His resurrection [which overflows and is active in believers], and [that I may share] the fellowship of His sufferings, by being continually conformed [inwardly into His likeness even] to His death [dying as He did]. Foundation Scripture for LOJWC Ministry:

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Mark 11:23

What We Believe:

We believe in God, the Father, Almighty, and in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. On the third day he rose again according to Scripture. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father, from whence he shall come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the God-head, who revealed himself on the day of Pentecost. We believe in the gifts of the Spirit and their continuous operation in the body of Christ. And we believe in one holy, universal, and apostolic church. Amen.

Faith Confession:

We conduct spiritual warfare. It begins with us as we speak God’s word and speak to our bodies, minds, and emotions. Therefore we make a faith confession which says: “Satan, in the Name of Jesus, I declare this body a sickness-disease-free zone. Every germ, virus, bacterium, etc., that touches this body dies instantly in the name of Jesus, who bore my sicknesses, carried my diseases, and by whose stripes I have been healed. Therefore I command life into every cell in this body, I receive healing for my emotions from every past embedded hurtful, fearful memory. I speak active deliverance from the law of sin and death, according to the finished works of Jesus the Christ, the anointed and His anointing.

The Power of His Resurrection, Part I

Everything that we receive from God, we receive by faith. He wants us to choose Him. He doesn’t make anybody serve Him. When we understand that and receive God, we can come into alignment with God’s will and let go of self-rule. We have been delivered from the authority of the power of darkness. That is part of the power of His resurrection that He accomplished for us. Jesus didn’t merely rise up from the dead, he conquered powers and principalities. That’s why we must be careful of what we say, careful not to rehearse our defeats. In the resurrection, we have redemption, we have healing, and we have deliverance. Everything originally given to Adam was restored to us by Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. (See Col. 2:15, Heb. 2:14–15, and Rom. 8:15.) For more insight, listen to this message delivered by Dr. Dowdy for November 3, 2019.

Calling Things That Are Not

We are calling the promises of God into manifestation. We have studied the Word of the Living God. We have confidence in His Word. This does not mean we are in denial. For example, we don’t say our arm is broken, if it is broken. But we bring in the Word of the Living God, the promise for full healing, confessing the Word of God. For example, in 1 Peter 2:24, we read, “By his stripes you have been healed.” Notice that it is written in past tense (what has happened), not future tense (as if we are hoping for something). This is the principle of calling those things that be not as though they were. That’s why we confess the Word of the Living God. We may not have it yet, but by faith we receive the promise. For more insight, listen to this message delivered by Dr. Dowdy for October 27, 2019.

Romans 4:17 NIV
As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.

Ascending to Another Level

We are not to remain static. We aren’t to reach the point where we think, “Everything is good. God knows I love Him. Everything is all right.” Because the propensity to operate in the sin nature is right below the surface. So, while we reach a point where we think all is well, we may not be in alignment with God’s Word. Even as we come into alignment with His Word, we are not to become static. Instead, we are to desire what He has for us. There is no limit to our relationship with God Almighty, except what limits we set up or allow others to set for us. God’s desire has always been for intimacy. Think back to Adam, Enoch, Noah, and others who walked with God.

What exactly does it mean to ascend to another level? It’s the power of salvation for everyone who believes, according to Romans 1:16. What are the blessings? Salvation from the penalty, power, and presence of sin. Scripture uses the words Justification, Sanctification, and Glorification. Justification is the Divine act of delivering sinners to be righteous because of faith in Jesus, who paid their sins. Sanctification is the process in which God develops the new life of the believer and gradually brings it to perfection. It’s a process of growth. Glorification is the ultimate salvation of the whole person, when we are completely molded into the image of Christ. See Romans 8:29–30, Phil. 2:3, and 1 Thes. 5:23. We are opening this process so that the people of God may be strong and do the exploits of God. For more insight, including how to ascend, listen to this message delivered by Dr. Dowdy for October 20, 2019.

Romans 1:16–17 NKJV & AMP
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.” [Hab. 2:4] NKJV

16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation [from His wrath and punishment] to everyone who believes [in Christ as Savior], to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed, both springing from faith and leading to faith [disclosed in a way that awakens more faith]. As it is written and forever remains written, “The just and upright shall live by faith.” AMP

Mountain Moving Faith

Sounds like an action-packed movie. While it’s not a movie, it is action packed. It is the ability God has bestowed upon us to reclaim our heritage. He wants us to enjoy our new-found freedom. God wants us to be the head, not the tail. It is based upon our faith level, and our desire to help others. What are the characteristics of being full of faith? Knowing the way; has a firm standing; not moved back and forth;  has complete confidence and trust in God; is not swayed from the truth. Faith is what transforms hope into reality. For more insight, listen to this message delivered by Dr. Dowdy for October 13, 2019.

Matthew 21:21 NIV
Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.”

Mustard Seed Faith

Faith is a substance. Substance is three-dimensional. God’s Word in Mark 11:24 says, “When you pray, believe.” We want to understand the value faith has in our walk as believers. Faith is believing God, taking God at His Word, rather than looking at circumstances. Jesus looks for our level of faith. He said that faith as small as a mustard seed will move mountains. Do you have any mountains in your life? A mountain is whatever is stopping you from accomplishing what God has said for you. How does that mustard seed reproduce? It must be placed in a medium. That medium is a Spirit-filled, born-again believer. When we have stored the Word of God inside, we keep our spirits filled with faith. In order for faith to ignite and produce results, it must be planted in our spirits. How do we plant the faith seed? Meditate in God’s Word day and night, then you will make your way prosperous and have good results. (Joshua 1:8) For more insight, listen to this message delivered by Dr. Dowdy for October 6, 2019.

Matthew 17:20 NIV
He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Fight the Good Fight of Faith, Part 4

Recognizing Mind Blockades

Faith is a spiritual law. God is a faith God. Everything we receive from God, we receive by faith. Two mind blockades prevent us from fighting the good fight of faith. We need to know these things, because they will keep us from being effective in our faith walk. The first is a wandering mind. If we admit it, most of us have a wandering mind—our mind loses track when someone is talking or we are listening to a sermon, for example. Our minds have left the moment. That inability to stay focused keeps us from fighting the good fight of faith, which requires focus on God’s Word. The second roadblock, a wondering mind, can take us out of belief. Wondering leaves a person in indecision, which causes confusion. Wondering, indecision, and confusion prevent a person from receiving from God, by faith, the answer to prayer or need. For more insight, listen to this message delivered by Dr. Dowdy for Sept. 29, 2019.

1 Timothy 6:12 NIV
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

Ecclesiastes 5:1 KJV
Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.

Mark 11:23–24 KJV
For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
